Fears a seabed mining project could undermine plans to bolster renewable energy

Fears a seabed mining project could undermine plans to bolster renewable energy

The Government has unveiled 149 projects it'll include in its fast-tracked consenting legislation.

They include housing developments, infrastructure, renewable energy, mining, aquiculture, farming and quarrying projects.

Environmental Defence Society chief executive, Gary Taylor, says he's surprised Trans-Tasman Resources made the list.

He says the company wants to use the same space off the coast of Taranaki as a planned offshore wind farm - which he says is a higher infrastructure priority.
