Police investigating the death of Rob Reiner and his wife are going to be talking to the couple's family members "to get to the facts"

The 78-year-old Hollywood director and his partner Michele Singer Reiner, 68, were found dead at their home in Los Angeles on Sunday (14.12.25) and the Los Angeles Police Department's robbery homicide division is investigating the case as an "apparent homicide" - and it's been revealed officers want to speak to all of the couple's loved ones.

Speaking at a press conference, LAPD Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton said: "We're going to try to speak to every family member that we can to get to the facts of this investigation."

He also insisted the force has not identified a suspect and no arrests have been made.

Hamilton clarified: "[We are] not seeking anyone as a suspect, or as a person of interest or in any other manner, and we will not be doing that until we conduct our investigation and move forward ... No one has been detained ... No one is being interviewed."

PEOPLE reports the Los Angeles Fire Department was called to the couple's home at around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon to provide medical aid, but found the pair already deceased.

The Los Angeles Police Department later confirmed the investigation into the tragedy is being led by the robbery homicide division who are treating the deaths as an "apparent homicide".

Reiner had an adopted daughter, actress Tracy Reiner, from his previous marriage to Penny Marshall while the couple was also parents to three children together, Jake, Nick and Romy.

After news of the couple's death broke, the family shared their sorrow in a statement, which read: "It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner.

"We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time."

Tracy has since shared her "shock" over the tragedy, telling NBC News: "I came from the greatest family ever. I don't know what to say. I'm in shock."

Since news of the tragedy became public, tributes have poured in from famous faces including former US President Barack Obama, Reiner's Misery star Kathy Bates and Christopher Guest, who worked with Reiner on This Is Spinal Tap and The Princess Bride.
