Kristen Bell is to host the Actor Awards for the third time

The Nobody Wants This actress is thrilled to have been invited back to host the ceremony - which was formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards - and has pledged to show off her musical talents again.

She said in a statement: "I've enjoyed hosting the show every time, so it was an easy decision to come back for a third. What I'm most excited for is the fact that I'll be doing what every actor does best...sing :)"

And awards bosses think the 45-year-old star is the perfect host for the ceremony.

Showrunner and ex ecutive producer Jon Brockett said: "Kristen Bell knows this show, she knows this community and she knows how to keep everyone entertained and laughing without ever losing the heart of the night.

"Having Kristen return to host feels like welcoming back a member of the family. One you actually want to hang out with."

The Frozen actress was the awards' first-ever host in 2018, 23 years after the first ceremony, with Megan Mullally taking over presenting duties the following year. However, there was no official host again until Kristen returned last year.

One Battle After Another leads the nominations for the Actor Awards.

The hit action thriller film has earned a record-breaking seven nominations in total, including individual nods for Leonardo DiCaprio, Chase Infiniti, Teyana Taylor, Sean Penn, and Benicio del Toro.

Leonardo is among the nominees for the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role gong. However, he'll face stiff competition from Timothee Chalamet (Marty Supreme) , Ethan Hawke (Blue Moon), Michael B. Jordan (Sinners) and Jesse Plemons (Begonia) for the award.

Elsewhere, Chase is competing with Jessie Buckley (Hamnet), Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs I'd Kick You), Kate Hudson (Song Sung Blue), and Emma Stone (Begonia) for the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role gong.

Meanwhile, Sinners - the hit horror film written and directed by Ryan Coogler - has earned the second-most nominations of any film, with five in total.

Michael B. Jordan, Miles Caton, and Wunmi Mosaku have all been nominated for individual awards. However, Hailee Steinfeld - who played Michael's on-screen love interest in the movie - has been overlooked for a nomination.

The awards ceremony will air on Netflix on March 1.

The event organisers previously explained the decision to change the name of the awards.

They said: "We wanted to provide clearer recognition in terms of what the show is about for our domestic and global audiences - we honour actors in film and television. Laser-focusing the name on those two things became the clearest and most straightforward path for this new chapter of the show."
