One of two men accused of murdering an Ellerslie couple has pleaded guilty just hours before his trial was set to start in Auckland

One of two men accused of murdering an Ellerslie couple has pleaded guilty just hours before his trial was set to start in Auckland

Shu Man Poon has admitted to killing Mei Han Chong and Fuk-Fu Joseph Kwok in their home in 2023.

The 44-year-old entered the plea in the High Court at Auckland last week, however that was unable to be reported until today.

Most aspects of the case are now subject to a new and far-reaching suppression order.

The trial of Lok Li, was aborted after the first day - the reasons are also suppressed.

A new trial date for Li has not yet been set, while Poon is set to be sentenced later this month.
