The Government's aiming to speed-up critical infrastructure, and cut costs

The Government's aiming to speed-up critical infrastructure, and cut costs

Changes to the Public Works Act passed a final reading in Parliament.

It would see landowners paid a five percent recognition payment on top, and premiums for those who agree to sell early.

The Greens' Julie Anne Genter mocked Government MPs in her speech, opposing the Bill.

Land Information Minister Chris Penk says critical infrastructure's been delayed and made more expensive for too long.

He says the Government should seek ways to address the infrastructure deficit.
