Drew Barrymore travels down "memory lane" when looking at pictures of herself from her 1990s heyday

The actress turned 51 on 22 February, and has since revisited the peak of her fame in a playful Instagram post marking her milestone birthday, sharing a montage of past and present moments.

Drew, who posted the video on 24 February, included a clip in her post of her attempting the floss dance, alongside the caption: "Mom, what were you like in the '90s?"

Footage then cuts to a series of intimate throwback photographs from her teenage years - including images of Drew with short blonde hair, eating pasta, cuddling a goat and smiling at the camera.

The montage was set to Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls.

Drew added in her caption: "Oh the '90s! I went down memory lane looking at these photographs."

The post appeared to be a nod to her daughters, Olive and Frankie, who she shares with her former husband, Will Kopelman.

The reaction in the comments was swift.

Actress Florence Pugh responded: "You were just the coolest ever with the coolest hair and the coolest smile. Ahhhhh (heart-eyes face emoji.)"

Rachel Zegler commented: "And still the baddest in the game (heart-eyes face emoji.)"

Nicole Polizzi, known as Snooki, added: "A legend (fire emoji.)"

Drew, who hosts The Drew Barrymore Show, has frequently spoken about the turbulence of her youth.

Reflecting on her adolescence during an April 2025 episode of her programme, she described having "a real car crash of a life" from around the age of 13.

She said: "The most valuable lesson I've learned is that nothing is a given... don't take anything for granted."

Drew began working in Hollywood as a child and rose to prominence during the 1990s with roles in films including Charlie's Angels.

In recent years, she has used her fame and TV show to discuss resilience and perspective gained from her early experiences in the entertainment industry, often referencing the challenges she faced during her teenage years.

Drew rose to fame as a child star in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial before becoming a defining face of the 1990s and is still renowned as one of the world's biggest child stars to emerge from Hollywood.
