The largest ever gathering of key players in the infrastructure sector will take place in Auckland today

Funding, regional and urban development and transport are among key issues to be discussed.

Infrastructure NZ chief executive Stephen Selwood says there's quite a degree of excitement about the emerging infrastructure programme, but also some lingering uncertainty about the timing and distribution of work.

He says all of the growth regions are struggling to keep up withe the provision transport, water and housing infrastructure in particular .

Selwood says these are central priorities together with the inevitable problem of inadequate funding, so they need to have a grown up discussion.
