Claims if Tuakau pensioners don't have a rent hike, costs will fall on ratepayers

The Waikato District Council has announced a 16-per cent increase, for its 32 pensioner flats, from 156-dollars a week to 182-dollars.
Mayor, Allan Sanson, says the homes are losing money and running up a deficit.
He says if the pensioners don't pay fair rent, it will come out of existing ratepayers' pockets.
The rent rise starts in July.
