A-League boss Greg O'Rourke has hinted at a spot of mischief in compiling the draw for the new season

The Wellington Phoenix will face Western United in the capital first up.

United are coached by ex-Phoenix boss Mark Rudan who departed and then recruited veteran Andrew Durante, goalkeeper of the year Filip Kurto and midfielder Max Burgess.

O'Rourke say he was delighted to send Western United to Wellington in round one and whether the Phoenix boo him for the entire match, he's not sure.

Rudan says it's part of the fixture and doesn't bother him, although is disappointed his side won't be at home in round one due to a motocross event.
