Control of the Porter's Pass blaze has been handed back to DOC.
Fire crews spent nearly two days fighting the fire, which prompted the closure of State Highway 73 for most of Sunday.
A Nissan Mistral was found down the bank from where the fire started.
Police say the same vehicle is believed to have been involved when an ATM was torn out of the wall of a local post shop in Darfield, several hours before the fire started.
