Jacinda Ardern says there's space for a public broadcaster in New Zealand

Jacinda Ardern says there's space for a public broadcaster in New Zealand

MediaWorks announced this morning its selling TV three and Bravo.

Ardern says the announcement's come in a changing media environment that creates obvious uncertainty for MediaWorks staff.

When asked if free-to-air TV was a level playing field - she said it was important to note the Government didn't fund TVNZ's day-to-day operations.

But she says New Zealand needs strong media to hold people - including political agents - to account.
