A tramping guide's adamant protocols are in place to protect people exploring our great outdoors

A 51-year-old Chinese tourist died on the Tongariro Northern Circuit over the weekend.
Guide Stewart Barclay says in the "walking season' people are stationed to tell hikers what to expect.
But he says not everyone follows the warnings.
He says they're doing everything they can to keep people safe but unfortunately sometime people fall through the cracks.
