Jeremy Powell appeared in the High Court in Christchurch this morning.
The 45-year-old's admitted killing the 21-year-old pregnant mother in 1995 - as her two year old son slept in the next room.
A woman in her forties is also appearing in the High Court in relation to the case.
Friends and family packed the public gallery for the appearance.
Among them Blackmoore's partner at the time she was murdered, Laurie Anderson, who found her body in their Wainoni home.
Powell and the woman were arrested last year and charged with murder.
