Police are set to crack down on lockdown violations in Northland
3 April 2020
They say the number of people out and about in Kaitaia town centre over the past few days is unacceptable and disappointing.
Police say they've spoken to a number of people across Northland about the restrictions.
They're also deploying extra officers and increasing their 24/7 presence in the Kaitaia area.
Police say they don't want to be arresting people for not complying, but further action may be taken against people who persistently flout the rules.
