Kiwis are likely to take a more cautious approach to purchasing a house or a car in the months ahead

Consumer confidence plunged to a new record low in April -- lower than during the 2008 Global Financial Crisis.
ASB Senior Economist Jane Turner says it's driven by households' concern about financial well being - and job security.
She says they're worried those concerns will lead to a cautious approach to spending going forward - and that will be a key restraint to the country's economic recovery.
