An Auckland businessman's been put behind bars for smuggling nearly 20 million cigarettes into the country

He also evaded more than 18.7 million dollars in Customs duty and GST.
The man was arrested late in 2018 - after Customs' largest haul of illicit cigarettes to date.
He'll be jailed for five years and three months.
Meanwhile, another businessman's appeared in Court today - for smuggling 75-thousand cigarettes earlier this year.
He's facing multiple charges under the Customs and Excise Act... and more charges are likely.
