A heavy rain watch is still in place in the capital following near torrential rain this morning

A heavy rain watch is still in place in the capital following near torrential rain this morning

Emergency services are being kept busy with reports of surface flooding and slips around the region.

Fire and Emergency have received several reports of alarms being triggered by heavy rainfall.

MetService meteorologist April Clark says while the rain will ease up this afternoon-- the temperature will drop.

She says getting 28.8 millimetres of rain in an hour is certainly heavy and people should be careful on roads.
