Tony Bennett has had his COVID-19 vaccine

The 94-year-old singer took to Twitter on Wednesday (13.01.21) to reveal he had been given his first dose of his vaccination against coronavirus as he encouraged others to take it up too

Tagging the World Health Organisation, he wrote: "I received the first dose of the Covid 19 vaccination this week and am doing fine and encourage you to do the same! @WHO (sic)"

Other stars to receive their vaccine so far include Martha Stewart.

In a video, she said: "I was vaccinated today in a designated vaccine pod near the Martha Stewart Centre for Living at Mount Sinai Downtown. To allay your concerns that I jumped the line know that I am in the approved age group for this batch of vaccines and I waited in line with others. [I am] so proud of and grateful to the doctors, nurses and medical staff who are wading through the red tape and confusion of the distribution of these very important vaccines."

Dame Joan Collins also confessed to "rushing" to have her coronavirus vaccine.

The 87-year-old actress shared: "I got the call from the Bloomsbury hub, which is from the physician … and they said if I came in tomorrow, and they told me this on Friday, they had a certain amount of the vaccine. They only had a certain amount, I don’t know why that is, I don’t know the ins and outs of how the distribution is going but of course, I rushed there as soon as possible ... I’m just keeping my fingers crossed that everybody is doing what they are supposed to do. Israel has got practically three quarters of their population vaccinated already. So, I do feel if everybody registers as soon as they can with their local GP, they will be called."
