Police have axed their annual cannabis operations, which net thousands of plants in isolated locations across the country

Police have axed their annual cannabis operations, which net thousands of plants in isolated locations across the country

A spokesperson says as harm increases from other drugs, particularly methamphetamine, a yearly aerial cannabis operation isn't the most appropriate use of Police resources.

But they say they won't stop targeting cannabis production and supply.

Stuff reports the decision is a surprise, with Police Minister Poto Williams saying she was unaware of the change.
