    Boris Johnson says the UK's Covid-19 variant looks to be more deadly than the original, but vaccines are effective against it


    Johnson says all the evidence suggests that both the Pfizer and the Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccines are protecting people.

    5.4 million people in the UK have now received their first dose of the vaccine, 400-thousand were immunised in the past day alone.
