ANZ says first home buyers shouldn't become victims of new loan-to-value rules

The Reserve Bank's return to lending restrictions, will see owner-occupiers needing a 20 percent deposit, and investors 30 percent, in March.
ANZ CEO Antonia Watson says that shouldn't be a factor on first home borrowers, as banks have set loans so they have the buffer of a decent deposit.
She says they made up 19 percent of ANZ's home loans before Christmas - compared with single digits during the last market high in 2016.
Watson says low interest rates are the driver.
