Chair Rob McDonald says market conditions now allow Tauhara to proceed after being in the planning stages for over a decade.
He believes the project's New Zealand's best low-carbon renewable electricity opportunity.
McDonald says it will operate twenty four seven, isn't reliant on the weather and will help significantly reduce New Zealand's carbon emissions.
Construction will begin shortly and is expected to be completed in the middle of 2023.
