Travis Barker has hailed Kourtney Kardashian as a “great mother and great friend”

The Blink-182 drummer is currently romancing the 41-year-old reality star, and has said he’s having a wonderful time with her because she understands what it’s like to be a parent

When asked during an appearance on the ‘Drew Barrymore Show’ if he prefers dating people with children or without, Travis – who has daughter Alabama, 15, and son Landon, 17, with his ex-wife Shanna Moakler – he said: "I've done both up until now. I dated girls who didn't have kids and I find it hard because they would have trouble understanding like, 'Why don't you want to go to dinner every night with me?' or 'Why don't you want to see me every night?' And now I'm spending time with a woman who's a great mom, who's a great friend and you don't have to worry about any of those things.

“It just comes natural, it's like a maturity thing. And I also really like missing someone and cherishing the time that I spend with them instead of every day being with them, especially in the beginning of the relationship. I think missing someone is so important.”

Travis’ comments come after his ex-wife Shanna said she’s “happy” for the musician, 45, and Kourtney – who has Mason, 11, Penelope, eight, and Reign, six, with her ex-partner Scott – because her children seem to “really like” the Poosh founder.

Shanna – who was married to Travis between 2004 and 2008 – said: “As long as she’s great to my kids and they’re both happy, I’m happy for them. I absolutely am super happy for them. I have no ill will toward anybody.

“I think they’ve been friends for a really long time. My kids seem to really like her, and they all seem [to be] in a good place, and I’m in a good place, so it’s good!”
