A law that would allow anyone to easily and legally self-identify their gender will soon land back on Cabinet's agenda, two years after it was mothballed

It's welcome news for the transgender community, who have wanted the law change for more than a decade.
Internal Affairs Minister Jan Tinetti says passing the legislation into law this year is a priority.
Ms Tinetti says she's urgently progressing work to enable the Cabinet decision which is required to get the Bill moving.
The law change would mean the only thing needed to legally change gender is a statutory declaration.
