Fire crews have brought under control a fire near the Motueka River in the upper South Island

Fire crews have brought under control a fire near the Motueka River in the upper South Island

The blaze - believed to be a burn off which grew out of control - had engulfed seven hectares of scrub.

It started about five yesterday afternoon near West Bank Road, but has now been fully controlled.

A Fire and Emergency spokesperson says it'll be left for the property owner to manage.
