The Black Caps play matches against the hosts at Lord's and Edgbaston ahead of the world championship final against India at Southampton.
In-form Wellington teammate Devon Conway is in line for a debut at Lord's, probably as an opener if coach Gary Stead's recent plan to bat Blundell at No.5 for Wellington pans out.
Blundell's scored centuries in his last two Plunket Shield matches.
Stead's also pleased Conway negotiated a tricky delivery over at the immigration department, regarding his permanent residency.
