Calls for a precautionary approach to nitrate levels in drinking water -- on the heels of a new study

University of Otago University analysis has found chances of a premature birth increase 47 percent when nitrates are at just 5 milligrams, per litre of drinking water.
That's less than half the current safe level in New Zealand.
Senior research fellow Dr Tim Chambers says it's a concern.
He says it's worrying that the short exposure period can cause lifelong consequences for babies -- but there's no reason to panic.
