Kiwirail's posted an operating surplus of 63 million dollars - up 23 million on last year

Kiwirail's posted an operating surplus of 63 million dollars - up 23 million on last year

The rail and ferry company's revenue was up seven percent at nearly 682 million for the year to June.

CEO Greg Miller says a focus on cost control and lifting the commercial performance is paying off.

Domestic freight is up, with export freight on par with last year because of Covid-19 turmoil.

Miller says closed borders continue to affect tourism, with revenue decreasing for Kiwirail's three scenic trains
