Levi Haami, who was 18, died surrounded by friends and whanau in Christchurch Hospital today.

Police were initially called to the Countdown carpark on Moorhouse Avenue in Sydenham at about 2am on Saturday.

Detective Inspector Joel Syme says Police are confident they know who assaulted the young man and are seeking that person.
