Wider Wellington received up to 25 millimetres of rain an hour between five and eight-am.
Last night, heavy rain caused a slip on the Kapiti Coast, temporarily cutting off 25 families in the Maungakotukutuku Valley ... as well as widespread surface flooding.
District Mayor K Gurunathan says they're now watching Mangaone Stream in Otaki closely, as it could block nearby residents in.
He says it could cut off the Te Horo village completely.
