A push to leave Local Government New Zealand behind for good

A push to leave Local Government New Zealand behind for good

Christchurch City Council members Sam MacDonald and Jake McLellan are calling on their colleagues to cancel their membership at a meeting today.

The umbrella group is under fire after signing an agreement, which says if the Government forced councils into water reform - it wouldn't actively oppose it.

McLellan says Three Waters is the last straw.

He says LGNZ has grossly mishandled the reform - and given mixed signals to both camps.
