    Nearly 20 prohibited firearms and 16 thousand rounds of ammunition have been confiscated in Marlborough


    It's part of Operation Chestnut, an investigation into the sale and supply of methamphetamine in the Tasman, Wellington, Central and Eastern Police districts.

    Detective Inspector Paul Baskett says it's unusual to find such a large collection of firearms out in the community, so getting them off the street is a big win.

    A 44-year-old man has been charged and is due to appear in Wellington District Court next week.
