The biggest challenge the Government has in getting children vaccinated ... is social media

That's the message from the National Maori Authority, ahead of children aged between five and 11 being eligible for their first dose from January 17 - that's Monday week.

Eighty one percent of Maori are fully vaccinated, while 88 percent have had their first dose.

But National Maori Authority Chair Matthew Tukaki is worried about parents who don't get their children vaccinated because of conspiracy theories online.

He says it's irresponsible for adults not to realise the safety of their children is more important than their own.
