A sub-par day with the bat has the White Ferns' cricket World Cup hopes teetering on the brink

A sub-par day with the bat has the White Ferns' cricket World Cup hopes teetering on the brink

Regular wickets cost the hosts dearly, in their crunch match against England.

Batting first under dark skies at Eden Park, the New Zealanders were bowled out for just 203 - with 7 balls to spare.

A mix-up between Jess Kerr and Maddy Green ended in a run-out... the last act of a dismal innings, on Sky Sport.

All-rounder Green was the only real highlight with 52 not out, while captain Sophie Devine made 41 after retiring hurt then returning to bat... Devine won't take the field for the second innings - Amy Satterthwaite will lead the side in her absence

So the English are chasing just 204 - they're 17 for one, after 3 overs... a short time ago.
