Tina Singh, also known as Tina Sharma, died suddenly at her Christchurch home in 2017 - three months after coming from India.
An inquest last year heard evidence her husband, Narinder Singh, was controlling and abusive - allegations he denied.
Coroner Alexandra Cunninghame has ruled out initial fears her husband was responsible.
But she says argument on the night of Tina Singh's death was the final straw - in an unhappy marriage where she had experienced arguments and violence.
