The Finance Minister says further consumer price increases are a reminder of current global economic challenges

Today's Consumer Price Index release by StatsNZ showed a 1.8 percent lift in prices over the March quarter - taking annual inflation to a 30-year-high of 6.9 percent.
Grant Robertson says if the the Government hadn't stepped in to reduce fuel excise tax and road user charges, that number would be higher.
He says there are short and long term things they can do to help New Zealanders through this, but fundamentally it remains an inflation situation driven by global factors.
