Construction work to prepare Otago's Corrections Facility for the transfer of high-security prisoners from Christchurch, has been delayed

Construction work to prepare Otago's Corrections Facility for the transfer of high-security prisoners from Christchurch, has been delayed

Global supply chain issues and material shortages has pushed the timeline for completion from May to late June.

The transfers were originally due to be completed by mid-September last year, but were delayed to allow time for the renovations.

Additional security features are being added to the unit, where the men will be moved to.

The estimated cost of the construction work is 1.6 million dollars.
