A Palmerston North man has been ordered to pay 500 dollars to Save the Kiwi .. for taking a venomous sea snake out of the water

The yellow-bellied reptile died after 45 minutes out of the water - when he took it from Tangimoana Beach in Manawatu in April 2021.

The snake's venom can kill small children and cause vomiting or paralysis in adults.

DOC is seeking to remove video of the snake from TikTok - which first alerted them to its death.
