    Police continue to appeal for information about a shooting in Taupiri yesterday, north of Ngaruawahia - as a victim dropped off a child to school,


    The school went into lockdown and the man received moderate injuries.

    West Waikato Area Commander Inspector Will Loughrin says they don't believe there is an ongoing risk to the wider public - or that it's related to gang tensions.

    He urges people who saw anything at all out of place, or someone acting suspiciously, to contact police.

    Police also want to hear from anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage in the area between 8 and 9.30 yesterday morning.
