The Children's Commissioner says there needs to be someone who can go in to bat for our most vulnerable children

A Select Committee has released its recommendations on a Bill aimed at strengthening oversight of Oranga Tamariki, and creating a Young People's Commission.
That's despite an overwhelming majority against the Bill.
Children's Commissioner Frances Eivers says the issue is how effectively a board can advocate for children - as they add more bureaucracy and costs.
She says when it comes to issues impacting our children, there needs to be a person who can stand-up, speak-out and be a watchdog on issues.
