    A child is among the seven dead in a crash in Marlborough this morning


    A van and a refrigerated goods truck collided head-on ... on State Highway One, south of Picton, just after 7.30.

    St John sent three ambulances, two helicopters and a first responder unit to the crash, with two people taken to Wellington Hospital with serious and critical injuries.

    They, along with the seven people killed, were travelling in the van.

    The truck driver has minor injuries.

    Inspector Paul Borrell says a crash of this scale has a huge impact on the community, the deceased's family and on emergency services who attend.
