Deep concerns after spread of whooping cough is confirmed in the Nelson-Marlborough region

Te Whatu Ora says although just one case is confirmed so far -- they caught the illness from someone else... making community transmission likely.
Whooping cough is most dangerous in infants and young children.
Paediatrician, Owen Sinclair says it's especially worrying, as vaccination rates are at an all-time low.
He says it has to be done, and is the only way to ensure children are protected.
Three babies have died from the disease this year, so far.
