The Black Caps have lost by 42 runs after being dismissed for 92, chasing 135 for victory after the visitors were restricted to 134 for eight.
Finn Allen and Glenn Phillips were the only New Zealand players to score more than 20 runs with the bat.
Captain Mitchell Santner says Pakistan heaped pressure on them during the power play.
The Black Caps won the series four-one.
