Tauranga residents listened today - when asked to delay travel or work from home

Tauranga residents listened today - when asked to delay travel or work from home

A cavity was found under major road State Highway 29A - closing the road between Barkes Corner and Oropi Road.

Work is under way - with hope the road can open tomorrow morning.

NZTA acting Bay of Plenty maintenance and operations manager, Roger Brady, says at least 10 percent of residents stayed at home, which helped

He says the damage was major and the hole bigger than originally thought - it was 4 metres deep, 4 metres wide, and maybe about 10 metres in length.
