Senior jobs at Auckland Council could be on the line, as part of Mayor Wayne Brown's efforts to reduce bureaucracy

Senior jobs at Auckland Council could be on the line, as part of Mayor Wayne Brown's efforts to reduce bureaucracy

A proposal released by council Chief Executive Phil Wilson, proposes trimming his executive leadership team from nine to seven.

It would also include disestablishing more than 40 general manager roles.

It follows more than 500 job losses across the council and council controlled organisations last year, as part of Brown's budget.

The proposal is out for consultation, with the final structure to be confirmed in early May.
