A prediction yesterday's GDP announcement will prompt action on the OCR from the Reserve Bank

A prediction yesterday's GDP announcement will prompt action on the OCR from the Reserve Bank

GDP fell 0.1 percent in last year's final quarter, pushing New Zealand into a technical recession.

Betashares Chief Economist David Bassanese says the higher OCR has slowed the economy down and started to tame inflation.

He says there could be quite dramatic shifts in the OCR.

Bassanese is expecting four, 25 point cuts, in the second half of the year.
