A woman's in a stable condition after being injured in an incident on Auckland's North Shore

Police say three people arrived at a Sunnyhaven Avenue house just before 7.30pm, there was an altercation, and the woman at the house was forced into a vehicle.

Officers were called to reports of gunfire, and a woman was later found in Greenhithe with injuries unrelated to the gun shot.

Herald reporter Rachel Maher says a Sunnyhaven Ave neighbour described the gun shot was ear-splitting -- and says neighbours ran out onto the street when they heard it.
