China's weak meat market is being singled out for its contribution to our struggling sheep and beef meat industry

Silver Fern Farms is reporting a 24-million dollar plus loss for the 2023 financial year, compared to it's 189 million dollar profit the previous.

Meat Industry Association Head of Strategy Jason Krupp says while volume overall is up, China - which accounts for about a third of our exports - is seeing a lot of weakness and is dragging everybody down.

He says high domestic inflation is also having an impact.
