A teenager appearing in the Youth Court with multiple sexual offences against young girls, is being ordered to pay three thousand dollars

Herald Open Justice reports the teen offender was found guilty of two counts of rape, four of indecent assault and two of unlawful sexual connection.

He's required to pay one thousand dollars to each of his three female victims for emotional harm.

Judge Brandt Shortland told the court the offender's age of 16 at the time saved him from the case being transferred to the District Court.

He says the reparation is not compensation for what happened - but at least it is something, and within reason.
