Erica Stanford says immigration requirement changes will help Kiwis in the job market

Erica Stanford says immigration requirement changes will help Kiwis in the job market

The Immigration Minister's speaking at Select Committee, after unveiling changes to the Accredited Employer Worker Visa scheme.

These include a minimum skills threshold and English language requirement for some roles.

Stanford says it doesn't add up that 20-thousand people went on the Jobseeker benefit last year, and 52-thousand low and unskilled migrants came to the country.

She says she's unashamedly putting Kiwis first for roles, when there are so many New Zealanders on benefits.
